Crossing lines isn't always a bad thing. It can be a new beginning, but sometimes it can be an irreparable disaster. You don't always get the luxury of taking back what you've done. I'm Sergeant Ali Rivers and it's up to my partner and me to solve murders in our city of Abernathy, Tennessee. What starts with something as simple as a dead woman laying by her pool turns into something much more complicated. With no leads and no helpful evidence, my first unsolvable case grows cold quickly.

While waiting to uncover evidence, my personal life heats up. Dr. Flannigan, the Medical Examiner, and I are going strong, but my mom has a surprise or two of her own. Even my unflappable, always-dependable partner has a change in heart, retiring and leaving me with a new partner to break in. How can I be expected to show a rookie detective the ropes if I can't even solve one murder?

With my Captain breathing down my neck to perform miracles, my first cold case becomes a high-stakes hunt for a potential serial killer in my town. The pressure is on.

My name is Detective Ali Rivers and my last date, which was already the stuff of nightmares, turned worse than I thought possible. I was on a horrible blind date (set up by my mother - long story) and got interrupted by going to a dead body in an alley in my city of Abernathy, Tennessee

.Next thing I know, a detective from another city is trying to take over my case (hell no), and instead I'm forced to have him on my team to solve the murder. Our case leads us to a ruthless, violent biker gang president who decides I'm the girl for him, a boxer, and a confidential informant who is a lovable stoner kid too honest for his own good.

While I'm trying to keep my mom's matchmaking machinations at bay - albeit poorly, our investigation's list of suspects are turning into victims. Chasing a violent killer in my city of Abernathy is difficult work, but someone's gotta do it.

An ambush by my mom to discuss catering my nonexistent wedding is not a fun way to spend a morning. She's no longer setting me up on blind dates; she's planning a wedding. Never have I been happier to get a call from work regarding a dead body found in a field.

My name is Detective Ali Rivers with the Abernathy, Tennessee Police Department. It's my job to trudge through the evil actions people do and seek justice for my victim and their families. My partner, Jerry, and I see evil on a daily basis. This body in a field poses a multi-faceted problem. Not only are we dealing with the evils of murder, but the case takes an unexpectedly sadistic turn.

We are forced to team up with a group of people who have rather fluid definitions of justice and what's socially acceptable. This case is highlighting how depraved and evil this world can be. Evil resides perfectly hidden in darkness. When it comes to eradicating that darkness, sometimes you need to have friends who walk in shadows.
